The best plastic free ethical bags
In honour of World Environment Day's pledge to '#BeatPlasticPollution' we've pulled together some of our favourite plastic free products this summer. Not only are these made from eco friendly fabrics, they are also produced with consideration of the maker too.
Starting with what was a classic grocery bag, the string bag is made from organic cotton by a women's uplift program in Bangladesh - established to empower women. The modern long handles make it super convenient for carrying over the shoulder as opposed to the traditional short handled style. Top tip - they are super compact so keep one in your handbag at all times to avoid using plastic bags at supermarkets etc. Also available in black.
Then we have a wonderful selection of bags from the lovely Maison Bengal, responsibly produced by a women's co-operatives in Bangladesh, providing work and a stable income for marginalised communities.
A playful take on your classic tote - this sunny yellow macrame shopping bag is the perfect add-on to any summer outfit.
The round handled macrame handbag is one of our favourites, and a great option to take from day to night. It's slightly smaller than our other macrame bags, elegant enough to be dressed up, yet still enough room to carry all the essentials!
Finally a wardrobe staple, this versatile jute shopper, it's simple colour way makes it really easy to wear with all outfits and it's a great size for day trips to the beach, or walks around the city
